Sustainable Memorial Day Sales

A handful of ethical and sustainable brands are doing Memorial Day Sales this year.

Seasonal sales are a good opportunity to get some high quality goods at a more attainable price.

They’re also a way to support ethical and sustainable small businesses who are looking to build up cashflow for future collections.

For instance, this year Tonle is running a “Rest and Reset” sale through June 9th to inject some much-needed cash into their zero-waste clothing brand. Recent design plagiarism by Free People and ongoing issues caused by the pandemic have resulted in setbacks for this trailblazing company.

I use sales like these to purchase timeless staples and pricier items that would have been out of budget without a sale.

I will be adding more sales as they roll in, but please feel free to leave comments about others.

A note: I am sensitive to the fact that military-related holidays have been rebranded for cookouts and seasonal sales. I lean toward pacifism myself, but I am starting to better understand how complicated it is to be a soldier and a veteran. For now I’ll just say that I will be taking a moment of silence to consider the incredible loss of life war brings and the impossibly difficult work that soldiers are expected to carry out.
