Valentine’s Day Goods That Aren’t Impulse Buys
In the past, I have shied away from doing Valentine’s Day Gift Guides, because I find V-day to be one of the least purposeful giving holidays.
From polyester-filled stuffed animals to pesticide-laden flowers shipped across the world to child-labor harvested chocolate, there’s not a lot to like about traditional gifts this time of year. But that is precisely why a gift guide may be worthwhile.
My husband and I don’t typically exchange gifts this time of year, though we’ll occasionally get a nice bunch of yellow roses to brighten the apartment, but if you are looking to participate in Galentine’s or Valentine’s Day this year, here are my picks…

St. Valentine served the early Church in Rome in the 3rd century, a time of religious persecution before Emperor Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the Empire in 313. Valentine served a fledgling and marginalized community, and was martyred himself on February 14th.
