I had nearly given up on Everlane shoes after one too many returns a couple years ago. But the Day Glove called out to me, and eventually I decided to use some stored-up shop credit to purchase them.
I bought the Rose color because they reminded me of classic ballet slippers (I’m a huge fan of ballet, even though I only took lessons as a four year old). Since I have pale skin with a pink undertone, they’ve also turned out to be a good neutral shoe for me.
Before purchasing, I had heard exclusively glowing feedback on the comfort and fit of these, and so I was initially quite disappointed to find that my regular size was quite tight in the toe and chafed at the heel.
I tried to stretch them out with all day wear for several weeks – and even added moleskin to the heels to reduce open wounds – but I just couldn’t make them work.
But I didn’t give up.

Why I Gave Everlane’s Day Glove Flats a Second Chance
On the Everlane site, they advise you to “take your regular size” in the glove flats, but what they really mean is, “take your regular Everlane size.” In my case – and I can’t believe it took me several shoe try-ons to realize this – I need to size up a half size, to a size 8, because Everlane shoes tend to run not only narrow but also “low.”
By that I mean that people with high arches are likely to experience some pressure at the top of the foot in their regular shoe size.
I wouldn’t normally repurchase a pair of shoes, but I really liked the versatility of the style and color, and the slightly old-fashioned vamp, plus I find the insole padding to be substantial enough to wear these to work all day.
Even in the 8, however, these aren’t perfect, at least not for me. I still experience a small amount of chafing at the heel, but I have very sensitive skin. That being said, the fit in the rest of the shoe is 100% better in a half size up, and I’ve been able to wear these for three days in a row without any lasting pain.

Who Should Buy The Day Glove
Buy the day glove if you have relatively narrow feet, few toe comfort problems, and are prepared to try a couple sizes for the best fit. If you need a wider toe box or experience pain at the top of your foot – near the vamp – you’ll probably want to avoid these.
If you do decide to get them, they have a nice range of neutrals to choose from now, which makes them really versatile.
