Is Italic Worth It? Clarice Tote, Cropped Tee, & Sunglasses Review

Earlier this week, I shared a spotlight on new-to-me brand, Italic. Italic just dropped their subscription model in October 2021, making their products more accessible than ever. Some of the items reviewed here may no longer be available on the site as a result of their restructure.

Check out my previous post for other product recommendations:

In today’s Italic review, I’m talking about three items from their collection.

Since StyleWise primarily focuses on fashion, I decided to review their:

But Italic also sells housewares, home linens, and shoes. They even sell beautiful coats. But it’s a little hot in Virginia for a coat review right now. Maybe in the fall!

I’ll run through all the product details and my thoughts below…

Italic Review: Clarice Leather Double-Gusset Tote

Is Italic Worth It

Italic’s beautiful leather tote was produced at a factory that also makes bags for Prada and Miu Miu.

I selected this bag for review because of its classic, structured design and the fact that it can fit a 13″ laptop. I’m doing a full time internship this summer. I’m also starting to think about job opportunities and desired living locations for after I graduate from my program in the spring.

With these things in mind, I’ve been acutely focused on building out my professional wardrobe. In considering a work bag, I wanted something that straddled the line between a briefcase and a tote. The Clarice bag fills that space perfectly.

This bag feels very luxe. The finishings are substantial, the calf leather is smooth and structured, and the details show attention to functionality and user feedback. I’m not usually (or ever) a luxury buyer, so I can’t compare it to that. But I can say that this is undoubtedly the highest quality leather bag I’ve owned outside of a vintage Coach saddlebag I found at a thrift shop.

The interior of the bag is leather-lined, as well.

Organization & Features

The Clarice Bag has a snap closure and three interior pockets. The center one closes with a zipper. As a work bag, this easily holds a laptop, notebook, planner, mouse, snacks, wallet, and small personal items.

It also has handles that can be fastened together with a snap, a detachable crossbody strap, and covered keyring.

I really love this handbag. At $220, this is a price range I can see myself investing at, especially since the style is timeless. I love that it comes in this gray color (called Storm), because gray is my favorite neutral. It also comes in burgunday and black.

Point Dume Sunglasses

Italic Review Clarice Tote, Cropped Tee, and Sunglassess

Truly the perfect, vintage-inspired sunglasses. I love that these have an angular cat-eye shape that feels very mid-century glam. They would look great with a poodle skirt.

The Point Dume sunglasses were made in a factory that produces for Lacoste and Superdry. They’re made with acetate from Mazzucchelli, which tends to have more ecological practices. Acetate is also recyclable.

The lenses are from Zeiss, which is a well-respected glasses lens producer.

I find these sunglasses to be quite substantial, certainly higher quality than your typical spontaneous sunglasses purchase. On my medium-sized face, they fit just right if not a bit snug.

Italic recommends these for square and heart-shaped faces to really show off the lines of the sunglasses. But I think they’re equally fun on my oval face. For $30, I think they’re priced really well. I might put prescription lenses in them eventually to make them more versatile.

These sunglasses also come in black and white.

Boxy Cropped Tee

Italic Review: Clarice Tote and Boxy Cropped Tee

The Boxy Cropped Tee is produced by the same manufacturer as Armani and COS. It’s made with medium weight, 100% cotton.

This tee is exactly what it says it is: boxy and cropped. I find that it runs a little small. It looks oversized on the model, but in my usual size Medium, it fits quite close in the arms, with some give through the torso. If I were to reorder, I would go up one size.

The neck also fits high, with a thick binding. It’s a very of-the-moment look, but I’d say not quite my cup of tea.

The Boxy Cropped Tee costs $15 and comes in Black, White, and Gray. Italic also sells a recycled jersey tee.

Is Italic Worth It? Conclusion

All in all, I am impressed with Italic’s product offerings. I find them to be a good value. And the handbag in particular is absolutely stunning.

While Italic may not use the same exact finishings or materials as luxury brands, their items are priced appropriately.
