Dress-up #1: Mata Traders Pinafore
I finally broke down and had a nice, long dress-up time last week. While I’m not putting together full outfits for doing school from home, it’s nice to remember that I have a lot of clothing that I would have very much liked to show off this season if I’d had the chance.
I did a lot of off-season shopping this year since I’m trying to be budget-conscious and items are often marked down in alternate seasons. That means I’ve had dresses, lightweight jackets, and short sleeve sweaters like this one in storage just waiting to see the light of day.
This Mata Traders pinafore was something I added to my cart while on the hunt for a dress for a wedding I am no longer attending (thanks, Corona). I have learned from experience that Mata Traders is cut for someone with a larger bust and narrower hips, so I sized up to a Medium to ensure a good fit in the hips, and then washed the dress so it would fall better in the bust. It’s made with such a lovely, lightweight, textured cotton polka dot fabric, and the straps are adjustable.
I also broke down and bought the ever-popular Nisolo Mariella mules when a used pair showed up on Slowre last month. I had them on my wishlist for about three years before taking the plunge.

P.S. That last picture makes me want to cut my own hair so badly. I probably will, TBH (if they’re not sold out of shavers). I’m sure that will make for an interesting blog post down the road.
