I can’t believe it’s time for another installment of my long running Fall and Spring Fashion List series.
At the start of the year, I decided to more earnestly pursue a “buy less” mentality. And so far, it has really worked. Part of the reason is that I thrifted myself to the point of exhaustion last fall, and I’m still working on wearing what I bought. With all the good stuff waiting to be worn, I just haven’t had the same urge to over-buy these past couple of months.
Because of that, I’m not particularly motivated to buy a whole bunch of stuff this season. Instead, I have been investigating my current closet thoughtfully to see what styles, colors, and combinations to emphasize.
Here in Austin, I’m not so much looking forward to warmer weather – it’s been in the 80s for two weeks now – as I am looking forward to spring colors, demonstrated most wonderfully in all the wildflowers and flowering trees.
While I haven’t seen any bluebonnets in my area yet, one of the redbud trees on my street was bursting with (you guessed it) red buds yesterday morning.

For the first time in years, my color palette has shifted: I am moving away from warm teals, oranges, and yellows.
For a decade or more, I have been dyeing my hair ginger red, which has encouraged my closet into a warm color palette. But after chopping my pixie super short in December and cutting all the dye out, I realized I was actually attracted to the more neutral and cool tones that suit my natural brown.
So, I decided I’m going to take some time off of the red hair dye and see how it goes.
