Slow Fashion Fall Outfits

Just a sampling of outfits from a couple weeks ago. The temperature is on a slow decline into fall and the leaves are starting to show off their array of colors, especially 20 minutes north of here. I spent last Friday on a golf course somewhere near Wallingford, CT. I was working on behalf of my church internship placement, “helping” a long drive pro sell chances to win a $5,000 luxury golf resort package at Hole 4 for charity (he had his spiel down pat and was much more popular with the guys than I was).

I played golf exactly once in my life, around the age of nine, so I wasn’t really sure what was going on for the first couple of hours. Between that and standing outside in a frigid drizzle (I wore this raincoat and it performed well), it was a disorienting time. But I’ve developed pretty good tools to settle into whatever comes my way by this point in 2020, so by the end of the day, I was actually enjoying myself. My favorite parts would have to be: the bagpipe serenade at the start of the tournament, driving a golf cart for the first time, and being out in “nature” for a full day of work.

I’m not especially excited about how early it gets dark outside, but I do have to say I’m feeling acutely grateful for the beauty of the earth this time of year. Things have been so unsettling and strange, it’s a good reminder that nature still walks on, that the earth is still turning, and that all of us in creation are alive and buzzing.

In related news, today is the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi and the Episcopal Church does a Blessing of the Animals each year to commemorate it. This year, I had the honor of writing and gathering prayers for the service, as well as casting holy water on the congregants (humans and pets) at the outdoor service. You can read my original prayer on Instagram (feel free to request to follow if you aren’t already).
