While I have tried not to pine too much for the return of full ankle function since the sprain – because it only makes me sad – with spring on the horizon, I wanted to revisit this post from a few years ago. As it turns out, (ethical) mules and slip-on styles are more popular than ever!

A comfortable mule requires at least these two things:

a snug fit all the way around to reduce slippage
good traction in the insole, also to reduce slippage

Without appropriate grip, your foot will slide right out of the mule, which is not only uncomfortable, but could theoretically cause an injury if you end up stepping down unevenly. (I’m just looking out for you, lol)

So why even wear a mule?
