I would say my style is very much defined by what some would consider basics – things like knit cotton tops, denim, and relatively plain sweaters – and yet it hadn’t occurred to me how much detail matters until I received this cardigan from LA Relaxed in the mail a couple weeks ago (they did not request a review, btw).
On its surface, there is nothing more boring than a black cardigan. But I took this Clara cardigan with me on my seminary trip last week and ended up wearing it every day. It’s nice because it’s made with a tightly woven french terry – an organic cotton/Tencel blend – so it doesn’t let cold breezes through. The color absorbs sunshine for extra warmth. But it’s still lightweight enough to pack in a backpack and wear all day in mild spring weather.
I also love Everlane’s crew neck tees. Their v-necks and box tees are not as high quality and just aren’t a good fit for me, but I own four of the crew necks – I go up from my usual size to a size medium – and they go with everything. I like wearing them with more feminine things like skirts, but they’re an obvious choice with jeans.
Even these earrings are sort of basics, perfected. They’re definitely an investment item, but if you can manage not to lose them due to their small size (this is a real problem for me with jewelry), they’re a wonderful pair to wear when traveling or when you’re looking for something low profile. I actually reviewed these on my blog nearly four years ago, so that gives you an idea of their longevity in my wardrobe.
Not the most profound thoughts today, but I have really been enjoying doing more personal style features. That’s what I love to read on other blogs, too.
Also, I volunteered to be a hair model for a local salon master class, so my hair will be transformed by the end of the day. I’m planning to post the big reveal later this week.
